FRIENDS OF CHEHAW CHECK PRESENTATION TO PARK AUTHORITY

Albany, GA— Friends of Chehaw, a nonprofit charitable organization supporting The Parks at Chehaw will present a “big check” in the amount of $5,000 at the regular monthly Park Authority meeting Monday, June 8 at 5:30 PM in the Creekside Education Center. This donation will be used to enhance exhibits located in the Wild Animal Park with picnic tables, pavilions, benches as well as newly designed brochures to attract more visitors to the parks.Businesses and community members took part in the Friends of Chehaw Swinging Safari Golf Tournament on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the beautiful River Pointe Golf Course. This annual event raises funds for the Parks at Chehaw to support the care of your beloved animals at the Chehaw Wild Animal Park. “We are very pleased with the success of our fund raising efforts with the Swinging Safari Golf Tournament and we hope to continue our momentum with our signature fundraiser, Walk on the Wild Side in October,” said Amber Albritton, President of Friends of Chehaw. One of two zoos in Georgia to hold the esteemed accreditation of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), The Parks at Chehaw was established in 1977 with the assistance of renowned naturalist and Albany native Jim Fowler. Today, Chehaw's Wild Animal Park is home to countless exotic and native animals living in their natural habitat. Other popular attractions at Chehaw include a BMX bicycle race track, 18-hole disc golf course, the Wild Trail for walkers and runners and one of the largest play parks in the state. Chehaw also hosts special events throughout the year, like the Native American Culture Festival in the spring and Festival of Lights during the holidays.
