Charles (Charlie) Edwin Sayres, 84, of Smithville, GA, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at his home.
His memorial service will be SATURDAY 11 AM, November 7, 2009 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors. The Rev. Dr. James Huffaker will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
A native of Charlotte, NC, he had lived in Smithville since 1995. Mr. Sayres was a Presbyterian and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Coast Guard. He retired with 33 years of service with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., serving as Vice President of the Southeastern Real Estate Investment office. He was a Life Member of Retired Board Member of the National Rifle Association, an Honorary Life Member of the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club, and was a Founding Member of the Ashford Club in Atlanta. Mr. Sayres was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Bunny) Sayres.
He is survived by his two sons: Rusty Sayres and his wife Neoma, and Chuck Sayres.
