GEORGE TONY CHIKAS, 70, of Albany, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009. He was born July 20, 1939, in Voutiro, Evrytania, Greece, the son of the late Tony and Helen Nicopolous Tsiklistas.
A partner of The Quickie Restaurant in Albany, Georgia, for many years, he was a member of Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church in Tallahassee, FL. He was a loving husband and father and devoted grandfather. He was passionate about gardening, hunting, and spending time with his grandsons. In addition, he always enjoyed sharing stories from his life experiences with friends and family.
George is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dena Chikas of Albany, GA; two daughters, Helen Davis and her husband, Steve, of Leesburg, GA, Sophie Adams and her husband, Mark, of Atlanta, GA; a son, Tony Chikas, of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren William Adams and George Adams both of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Vickie Cortessis of Winston-Salem, NC; and brother, John Tsiklistas of Albany, GA, as well as seven nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Chicklistas, of Charlotte, NC.
Visitation and prayer services (“Trisagion”) for Mr. Chikas will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 (Today), at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on SATURDAY, October 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Albany, GA. with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Vastakis will officiate. Pallbearers will be family members, Jimmy Caras, Anthony Chicklistas, Andy Cortessis, Tony Tsiklistas, Perry Andros, and dear friend, Leon Baskan.
