Mark Walter Shor passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the age of 77, in Atlanta, Ga. Mark was born on January 7, 1932, grew up in Brooklyn, New York and met his wife of 54 years, Sheila Marks, while living there. Mark and Sheila were married on February 12, 1955. Mark enlisted in the US Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1960. While pursuing his communications career, Mark and Sheila were fortunate enough to see many places around the country, and moved to Albany, GA in 1964, living there for the next 45 years, where they raised their five children, Melissa, Alan, Denise, Scott and Rebecca. In Albany, Mark operated a number of radio stations and sporting goods stores, and was a long time member of Temple B’nai Israel. Mark was also an active member of the Albany Lion’s Club, serving a term as president. Mark was a talented businessman and wonderful family man. His passion in life was as a special and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Sheila , sons Alan Shor and his wife Ruthie of Dallas, Texas and Scott Shor of Albany, GA and daughters Melissa Shor of Norcross, GA, Denise Greenberger and her husband Robert of Atlanta, GA and Rebecca Shor of Albany, Ga. He is also survived by the loves of his life, his grandchildren Zach Shor, Rachel Shor, Sarah Shor (all of Dallas), Micah Greenberger, Chelby Greenberger and Marra Greenberger (all of Atlanta), and Alison Harrell, Ian Pedrero and Jessica Pedrero (all of Albany). A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Riverside Cemetery in Albany. Rabbi Dr. Dana E. Kaplan will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence of Scott Shor, 3037 Stonewater Dr., Albany, GA. on Wedneseday from 7-8:30 PM.
