Alethia Humphreys Brown (1924-2009)

Mrs. Alethia Humphreys Brown passed away on September 24, 2009 at Albany Healthcare, in the company of her loving family.

A visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM, on Monday, September 28th at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with her funeral services immediately following. Eddie Garcia, Minister of Lee County Church of Christ will be officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born January 22, 1924 in Lakeland, Florida. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Albany High School. She meet her late husband, Francis Brown while he was stationed at Turner Field and she was working at the Colonial Store. She and her husband settled in Albany after he retired from the United States Air Force in 1963. Mrs. Brown was proud to be a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed camping, fishing, painting, sewing and preparing holiday meals for her entire family. A talented seamstress, she worked tirelessly from her home for local sporting goods stores sewing names and numbers on athletic uniforms enjoyed by hundreds throughout South Georgia.

Mrs. Brown served as a foster parent to several children who were fortunate to experience her love. She loved her family, her church and her Boston Terriers. Mrs. Brown was always willing to give her time and talents to others. She was devout Christian and a founding member of the Lee County Church of Christ. She lived her life with honor and conviction.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Humphreys, her husband Francis Brown and her brother, Brantley Humphreys.

Survivors include her son, Frank Brown and his wife Flagg; granddaughters, Shelly Harrell, Frankie Brown and Heather Lawton; grandson, Anderson Miller; great grandson, Lucas Peyton Miller; her sister, Claudia McCorkle and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she loved dearly.
